When I attended a show at the Blue Room in Nashville in October, I wasn’t expecting to find a new female artist that I would love based on an opening act. Clover County was the opener that night and she absolutely drew me in. What first caught my attention was her incredible stage presence, her style, and humor. We immediately loved her.

Since the show, I've been listening to her music constantly and I couldn’t be more excited when she announced two singles, ‘Nothin’ At All’ and ‘Good These Days’.

Starting off with ‘Nothin’ At All’: upon first listen it was so heartfelt with a sound that tugged at my heartstrings. The opening lyrics are “You split me wide open and left me undone, packed all your worst into a loaded gun”. Right away I was hooked by the deep meanings within the song. Before the end of the song I had an emotional connection to it, to me the song felt like the perfect soundtrack of a girl in her 20’s just navigating life, like myself.

Once the first song was over, it blended perfectly into “Good These Days”, the fading out leading us into the next tune.

I really liked the sound of the second song just as much as the first. “Going through the motions, drinking all the potions, to feel alright” expresses how it feels to keep on trying even though times are hard right now, something many of us can relate to. Clover never fails to always write something we can feel seen or heard with, at least for myself.

Finally, while I sat and listened to these two songs, I went through the emotions. I sat in my room and painted while playing her discography before these two new songs, and these two I immediately stopped and listened. I could feel how much Clover pours her heart into her music and I admire that. I’ll always love to support a solo female artist, especially in todays age where we need the support we can get as females.

“Cause it’s hard to stay good these days, I know” will be a line that sticks with me for a while.
