SHOW REVIEW - Wallows in Sugar Land

Julia Montejano - @fromjulslens

On August 17th, 2024, Wallows hit the stage at the Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land for their third and final Texas show of the 2024 Model World Tour.

Consisting of members Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston, Wallows’ unique blend of Indie, Rock, and Pop genres makes them a staple piece for fans looking to delve into an artist with a diverse and versatile discography.

Kicking off the show with Do Not Wait performed from behind a stage-covering curtain with only the band’s silhouettes shining through, the crowd’s anticipation was through the roof. From the moment the curtain fell, the energy throughout the venue could be felt from the photo pit all the way to the upper balcony, the entire place felt alive.

Performing popular songs like Are You Bored Yet?, Calling After Me and Scrawny, Wallows never stopped catering to their fans, even performing throughout the crowd (including the upper balcony) on multiple occasions throughout the night. From stage design and lighting, down to the setlist, Wallows hit the nail right on the head and delivered a show that captured the attention of diehard fans and casual listeners alike. I even found myself wishing the night would never end as the last song of the night, I Don’t Want to Talk, echoed throughout the venue.

I’ll never forget this show as it was the first concert I’ve ever professionally photographed and something about it just made it feel like an out of body experience in the best way.

After this show in Sugar Land, Texas, Wallows have plenty more performances for fans to look forward to in cities such as Maryland Heights, Sandy, Los Angeles, and even overseas spots like Paris, Edinburgh, Brisbane, and several more. Tickets are available below.
