SONG REVIEW - Edward Price’s “Scars”

Kylie Fajman - @kyliefajman

Coming out with his fourth single on August 16, Edward Price, a Nashville-based indie pop/ psychedelic rock artist, releases a new hit, Scars, bringing fans a new indie pop record just a day before his show at The East Room in Nashville.

With past songs, Pitiful, Backwards, and, What You Came For, this new single shows us that love can sometimes be toxic and without taking the time to heal and grow we jump right back into love. Featuring himself on the vocals, guitar, and keys, including Danny Wagner of Greta Van Fleet on the drums, this single brings in a funky, indie-pop sound.

Scars: A Review

The song opens with a fun intro that draws your attention right away before jumping into the chorus. The lyrics are eye-catching, saying the things we’ve all been in before or thinking about when it comes to toxic relationships. It’s followed by some sick-ass guitar riffs courtesy of Price, Including a funky solo towards the end that makes you wanna dance.

The lyric that stands out the most to me, is “Come and hold me, hold me, in my hospital bed” with a line like this just showing how dedicated we are sometimes when it comes to love.

As someone who has been through toxic relationships, Price has an incredible songwriting ability to make his songs very relatable to listeners everywhere. There’s plenty of music out there that brings up toxic love but never really the details about how it hurts like he conveys in this song while still giving it that indie-pop vibe.

My favorite thing about it, is even though the lyrics are really grasping at that concept, is that it isn’t sad sounding much like other songs about relationship toxicity. So if you’re looking for a single to scream and jam in the car to while getting over some toxic relationship, this is the one for you.

As a fan who has been around since his debut single Pitiful from October of 2023, Price grabbed my attention right away. His music gives me, and a friend of mine a Dominic Fike vibe. We’ve even told him this and he immediately stated how he was an inspiration for him and it meant the world. As a musician just starting with a few singles so far, I can tell he’s going to keep going and supply us with some incredible jams but all in all, I am very proud of how far Price has come with his music.

His new single Scars will hook you onto his sound. As a fan from the first single to now, and even the new music he’s been teasing, I couldn’t be more proud and excited to hear more from him. He is truly one of the kindest, humblest, genuine musicians I have ever met. If you haven’t checked Edward Price out yet, check him out on any streaming platforms and you will not be disappointed.
