Nessa Barrett’s Aftercare Tour made its way to Houston, Texas on March 1st, 2025, for a sold out show at House of Blues. Fans flooded outside the venue doors, with the line wrapping up and down staircases, eager to get inside. Many were dressed for the occasion, with their outfits giving a nod to Barrett’s own fashion.
As fans complimented each other on their makeup and attire for the evening, something about the atmosphere felt refreshing, and a comforting “women supporting women” buzz filled the air as Ari Abdul took the stage and opened the show. Ari, joined by guitarist Constance Antoinette, captivated the audience with fan-engaging stage presence and perfectly set the tone for the exciting night ahead.
Sporadic chants of Nessa’s name echoed around the venue just as the lights dimmed and Barrett took the stage with “S.L.U.T”, a crowd favorite, and a perfectly electrifying start to the evening. The energy in the room was through the roof, with every lyric being screamed back at Barrett from the audience. The admiration from fans was undeniable, many of them flaunting Nessa Barrett phone cases as they held them up as Nessa interacted with the crowd.
Barrett effortlessly switched from high-energy hits, to slow and eloquent ballads, making sure to include the crowd on what her songwriting process was, and who or what the next song was about. As the show neared its end, Nessa bashfully introduced her last song of the night, “P*RNSTAR”, and cracked a few jokes as she jokingly apologized to parents in the audience. Her stage presence was genuinely wholesome and grateful as she ran across the stage interacting with fans, making sure no one felt left out. As the song ended, she thanked the crowd and walked off stage as the stage lights dimmed, but that wasn’t the end of the night.
Barrett returned with an encore featuring crowd favorites “scare myself”, “PINS AND NEEDLES” and lastly, “AFTERCARE”, the song in which the tour got its name. It’s no wonder why hundreds of dedicated fans line up for hours on end to see Nessa Barrett perform— her show was captivating with a bit of an edge, and an overall amazing experience.
