Bird and Byron Stun With New Single

song review via kylie fajman - @kyliefajman

Constantly bringing us new jams to vibe to, Bird and Byron continue pumping out new hits. With past hits such as their cover of Dr. Dog’s Where’d All the Time Go?, My Love Still Remains, and By My Side (which was featured in the hit tv show, The Rookie, and Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, and many more). These wonderful musicians bring not only kindness and genuine passion when it comes to talking to fans or creating music, but also some damn good music.

Bird and Byron in Nashville 2024, shot by Kylie Fajman

Opening with a strong guitar-led track, Bird and Byron grace us with a new single titled Oh My Lord, which was released at Midnight on Halloween. After hearing it at a recent show I covered, I was waiting for this one to release, even recently recording a clip of the new song and uploading it to our magazine's Tiktok.

(find it here.)

My favorite part of this single is right around 3 minutes in when a sultry guitar and saxophone combination leads us. With lines like, “Between lines of ecstasy” and “Why don’t you, please just talk to me?”, Blake’s voice draws you in. The emotion flowing through his voice carries throughout the entire song.

This single is featured within their collection titled, Welcome to 1979 Sessions, something we spoke briefly about during their interview back in September. We spoke about what this recording session was, and how special it was to them, even featuring The McCrary Sisters, a gospel group out of Nashville. Although the duo wrote this song in the summer of 2019, it releasing now added to their already wonderful discography.

You can enjoy the entirety of their Welcome to 1979 Sessions EP on November 22, courtesy of Lionsgate. The EP features, Fly and Oh My Lord, this newest single. It also includes two covers; Redbone’s Come and Get Your Love and Swamp Dogg’s Creeping Away. If you or someone you know is looking for something to groove to, Bird and Byron never disappoints. With their funk, soul, and jazzy vibes they will make sure to get you dancing the night away. It will be hard to resist falling in love with their music.
