JUDAS PRIEST - INVINCIBLE SHIELD
Annsley “AJ” Jennings - @annsleymedia
Judas Priest. I'm seriously concerned if you don't know what that is but I guess I'll give you a brief run down.
Judas Priest formed in 1969 in the midlands of England, established early on as a hard rock/metal group. Frontman Rob Halford joined in 1973 replacing the former Al Atkins and the group has gone through many members over the years but as of now, the band consists of Rob Halford (lead vocals), lan Hill (bass), Glenn Tipton (guitar), Scott Travis (drums), and Richie Faulkner (guitar).
Judas has released many iconic songs and albums over the years with popular works such as "Breaking The Law" from their British Steel album (1980), "Painkiller " from their Painkiller album (1990), and several others.
I mean it is just consistently banger after banger.
This year, the band released a new album: their first since 2018’s Firepower. It is titled Invincible Shield and it became ours on March 8th. Out of all 14 tracks, I decided to hone in on three that truly make the album what it is.
Track #1 - Panic Attack
This is their first song off the album and just….wow…
Fucking chills man.
Rob Sounds amazing, the fucking instruments are amazing, it's just wow.
The guitar solo was absolutely killer but it's Glenn Tipton and he kicks ass every time, so what else would we expect?
This song to me (lyrically) is about todays issues with the government and the lyrics "It don't matter about your choice, cause all you've got is an empty voice " just hits right on the money about today’s societal issues with the government.
Track #2 - The Serpent and the King
This song is just everything and more.
Again, the vocals and instruments are bad ass.
My favorite lyrics are "To them we are a fantasy to see who's first to break" and it just speaks high volumes to me about Big Brother creating these non-realistic ideas for the people only to watch them fail.
Track #5 - Gates of Hell
"Sign on the line and sell your soul to the devil" are my favorite lyrics in this song. It means to me that whenever you sign for anything major in this world it's like you lose your freedom and soul. This song just hits the target per usual for Judas Priest.
Well they fucking did it again (no surprise there).
Judas Priest will always be in my top 10 favorite bands because they always nail their shit. The way they all sound just as they were 4 decades ago is absolutely insane and impressive: I will never not like a Judas song because they just always hit right on the target. So if you have never listened to Judas Priest then fucking start because you are missing out if you don't.
